Privacy Policy

This page explains what SPLAT collects when you buy and activate a licence, why each piece of information is collected, how long it is kept, and how to ask for yours to be deleted. SPLAT is a Windows desktop application sold as a one time purchase; this policy covers the account, purchase and activation system around that sale, not the application itself, which is addressed separately below.

Information we collect

We collect four kinds of information, and nothing beyond them:

Why we collect it

Each item above exists to make one part of the purchase and activation flow work. The email address lets us deliver your licence and reach you about it. The order reference lets support look up what you bought without us having to hold your payment details ourselves. The activation fingerprint hash lets the two machine limit in the licence be enforced and lets you deactivate a machine yourself to move your licence, without us ever seeing what hardware you actually run. The server logs exist for security: identifying abuse, rate limiting and diagnosing outages.

How long we keep it

Account and order records are kept for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for tax and accounting purposes where the law requires it. Activation fingerprint hashes are kept for as long as the activation they represent is live, and are discarded once you deactivate that machine or your licence is revoked or refunded. Server logs are rotated on a short, fixed schedule and are not kept indefinitely.

The desktop application itself

SPLAT, the program you install and run, does not transmit your scans, your project files, or anything you build with them anywhere. Loading a capture, building motion for it, performing it live, or rendering it to an image sequence are all local operations that happen entirely on your machine. The only network traffic the application itself makes is the licence activation check described above; there is no telemetry on your content, and no background upload of your work.

Data is not sold

We do not sell, rent, or trade any of the information described on this page to anyone, for any purpose. It is used only to run the account, licensing and support system this policy describes.

Requesting deletion

You can ask us to delete your account data, including your email address, order reference and any activation fingerprint hashes, at any time. Reach us through the contact page and we will action the request once we have confirmed it is really you asking, typically by replying from the email address on the account. Deleting your account data will deactivate any machines still tied to your licence, since the activation records that let a machine run SPLAT are part of what gets removed.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that materially affects how your data is handled, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use SPLAT after a change means you accept the updated policy.
